Anyone added insulation?

I was wondering the best way to block insects, etc from coming in thru the vents behind the refrigerator? I know that silver backed insulation is used all over my Burro.....has anyone replaced theirs or added more? Can I add more in that area and also in my closet? What is that stuff called? Is it the same stuff used in stick homes?

I can't answer about Bolers but this is a project I've started in mine.
Reflectix from Lowes and floor foam mats from Sam's Club.

As far as I know, mine doesn't have a vent.
I have a Magic Chef fridge like you get at the box stores.

Maybe I'm not using the right term........there is a small register like panel that exhausts something? From the refrigerator......my manual says it needs to be vented. I'm not talking about a vent pipe......just a little register vent that you unscrew off to get access to the back of the refrigerator. Maybe I'll take a few pics tomorrow and post.

Linda, In our Scamp the previous owner had covered the inside of the fridge vent with screening, attaching it to the inside with some kind of adhesive..

Linda, you described it okay. My Snoozy is total electric and
does not have any vents, registers, exhausts. There are a few
drains in the bottom that have screening over them.

Unless your fridge has been replaced with an all-electric compressor unit, it is a 2- or 3-way absorption fridge that silently runs on either propane or electricity. That vent is essential to it functioning, as the fridge uses heat to make cold and operates in a similar manner to a fireplace; a lower vent to suck cool air in and an upper vent to exhaust hot air out. The back of the refrigerator is essentially a chimney. Blocking the lower vent with reflectix will damage your absorption refrigerator.

If you're concerned about bugs then you need to use a mesh screen material attached to the inside of the vent panel. I recommend aluminum mesh.

Hey I'd be interested to know what you use to affix the screening - I need to do the same thing.

I'm thinking Velcro.......easy to apply and I can reach behind the refrigerator to press it on.

Ok.......I decided to use old fine screening from front door panel.......cut it out, trimmed it so it would lay flat on vent.......used Super Glue all around, laid screen in frame and pressed down around edge with pencil. When it's done, I will just snap back into place.

As a side note, I fixed the top vent a little differently. I trimmed another piece of my front door screen, unscrewed the top, and sides of the vent...slipped the piece of screen inside and screwed it in place when I screwed the three sides of the vent back in. Done with that task.....only a couple hundred left. :-)
