Aux 12VDC receptacle
I would like to put a 12VDC receptacle in my Patriot.
I'm thinking of locating it on the "wooden" cover plate just under the heater. This is the plate that is about 4" tall and is just above the heater/wiring access door that is on the floor under the sink.
There is a spare accessory position on the inverter circuit board for a 15 amp fuse. And the length of wire from this point to the mounting position would be only a couple of feet. My question is this; where is the best place to attach ground?
Thanks for your help. This is probably one of many, many questions.

you could run two wires to the converter, one ground to the grounding block and one juice wire

cpaharley2008 has a great solution.
I would run a 12G wire You can purchase the wire at Lowe's or Home Depot by the foot so you will not have to purchase a whole roil.

There are a few places where it's easy to install 12 volt outlets with short wire runs.
Here are a few: near the convertor, near the solar controller using the battery terminals of the controller, and at the refidgerator if you have a 12 volt fridge.

I installed a 12 VDC receptacle in the face of the side dinette seat by my converter. The 12 VDC receptacle with plate cost me $6.00 and was easy to install I used #14 wire (short run < 3 ft) and fused the circuit at 10 amps (current rating of receptacle) Works great for charging my cell phone and GPS and they are out of site from prying eyes unlike charging them in my vehicle

I took the inexpensive route. I bought a cigarette lighter at the local auto parts place for $3, kept the socket, chucked the lighter. Used a 7/8" washer as a face plate. Used for charging the IPad and running the window fan, it is fused at 5 A. A wine cork keeps the dust out. Raz

I like the 7/8" washer. A good source of outlets is auto wrecking yards, they've even got nice covers. The 12V outlets and lighter sockets are slightly different inside.

It is said that the difference between a good carpenter and a great one is how well he hides his mistakes. I wanted a clean hole so I used what I had, a 1" Greenlee chassis punch. The washer makes things fit.
