I now need the information on how to rig up a 2nd gas tank so it increases the run time of a Honda eu2000.

When we had a multi-day power outage, I borrowed my son's Honda EU2000 and used it to air condition our master bedroom. I rigged up a 5000 BTU window unit and ran it with the Honda. Over 3 nights running from 10PM till 7AM, we never ran out of gas. So, you might want to test before looking for extra gas capacity.

Pete,
Thanks for the information on the tanks. Similar to ones others have posted, but now you don't have to track down the materials to build your own.

Here is a picture of my Generator and 3 gallon marine gas tank. I used Tempo quick disconnects. Email me if you want more information such as part numbers etc.

I got the ideal from another Casita owner on Casita Club or Forum that did the same thing.

The 2nd tank comes in handy when you are boondocking by yourself and long way from gas station.

2nd picture showing gas cap end. I purchased a 2nd gas cap and modified the orignal. This way I can use the generator with or without the 2nd tank.

I removed the vent switch and gasket from the gas cap, threaded the fitting into the cap and JB Weld the fitting in place to seal it. Once dried I replaced the gasket and pressure fit plastic tubing into the brass fitting that is rated for gasoline.

Marine gas tanks are better quality and with the vent open fuel will not come out unlike a regular gas tank that some of the generator suppliers are selling.

Our Honda will run all night with the AC on with one tank full, so we have not made any mods for the run time of ours. I would see how yours works for you before you do any mods for it.

Once upon a time I modified a portable marine gas tank to attach to a Honda 2000 generator. We spend time camping in the desert in the summer and I got tired of getting up in the middle of the night to refuel the generator.

Kents mod is very close to my modification which was posted on the "old" Casita Club.

Please always use a marine tank which is designed for this type of service and also approved fuel lines. This must be a sealed system except for the fuel tank vent.

This mod works very well and has been field tested many times.
