I was looking at small folding steps, but found this at a flea market. It's meant as an exercise stepper. The colored pieces arrange from stored inside the black to the configuration shown (about 8 inches high.) It's broad and long, much more convenient and safe to step on, and just enough to make the step into the trailer easy.

I'd check one more thing. Make sure it doesn't get slick when wet.
