Trying to avoid customs charges if possible. Anyone know a good place to order a BAL leveler in Canada? I've located one locally at 150$ but that price seems a bit unreasonable. Thanks!

Having the exact same trouble Daniel. Locally they have them on for $129.95, on sale from $149.95. I understand that we generally pay a bit more even with money at par but double USA prices really chokes me.

I just ordered one from the US it was only $75 thats with shipping in.....I don't say the customs charge is going to be over $50, and I've ordered lots from the US lately and some shipping companies haven't even charged me the duty so I'd say its worth a chance. However I did find pricing in Calgary for $100, but I still think I might be able to save some money this way.

Where did you order yours from Kentj?

One thing I have learned ordering bass and PA equipment from the states is some postal companies are far worse then others for duty. I try to get shipping in the following order now:
1. USPS
2. Fedex
3. UPS.

USPS almost NEVER charges duties - UPS always does and it's a lot (I got dinged $100 bucks on a $500 used bass).

Keep us posted when you do get it, looks like 3 other Canadian Trillium owners can't wait to get one.

Okay, we had two topics going on the BAL levelers, stabilizers and jacks. One in General Chat and one in Problem Solving. I've split the BAL general discussion posts off and merged into one in Care and Feeding here.

Let's keep this one about the Canadian Suppliers, okay

Incredible how these messes just clean themselves up magically.
(Translation: Thanks... I bet you had a BAL cleaning those up. )

So, according to this BAL distributor page, we have Atlas Trailer Coach Products distributing them in Canada. Does this get us anywhere? If all Canadian RV parts stores get them from the same distributor, prices can't vary that much, can they?

Thanks Donna,

Moderating; it's a sleepless job ain't it Donna. Seems like it goes on all nite at times LOL. Been there Bent that! Funny thing is I was just doing the same thing (thread split, merging etc.) on some boards too.

Hey guys got mine today in the mail....it was shipped via USPS post to Canada Post the duty only cost me $7 and change, so I would have to say that its worth buying in the US and getting it shipped, I saved around $25.

Thanks for the information Kent, ordering one from http://www.sportsmansguide.com/ today - that seems to be the lowest price that I have seen for them. I would rather buy local but not at $150.

Got my Bal leveler today - additional $11.29 for customs so grand total of $93.24 which is $47.76 less then the local shops at $125 ($140 with tax).

However, it took almost two weeks to get so there's the trade off.

I was thinking about making something similar. Basically a frame that one could assemble around the tire with a shallow box on one side that the end of scissor jack would fit into. Something like this:

Name:	Leveller.jpg

Size:	11.0 KB
ID:	13547

Think it would work?
It would take up less space and possibly be a bit quicker. Most of us have a scissor jack in our trailers available.
