Question Bargman L300 door locks

We discovered last night that we cannot lock our trailer door.

We can push the button from the inside or turn the key from the outside but then just open the door like it isn't locked.

Has anyone else experienced this and did you find a solution?

Smile Bargman L300 problem

I solved it! Daylight helped a lot. I removed the inside plate and decided that the black locking knob was not tightened enough. Also the other two attachment screws were very loose. I thought at first that there was some adjustment to be made.

There was an adjustment, just tighten all the screws including the locking knob.

I had the same problem with my uhaul. The locking pin came partially unscrewed and, that being the item that actually prevents the latch from moving, allowed the inside slider to slide. Check your pins people.

I will put locktight on it when I get home.

The Bargman L-300 is still available new. Or, one that's an exact replacement. It's the rare, rare, rare L-400 that's nearly impossible to find/

Actually just found one local at an RV shop, at the Northgate RV Center: Northgate RV Center a little shop that also does service. I went in with a photo of the busted one we have and said, "I"m looking for one of these." No sooner had the words left my mouth and he came around the desk and headed just down the short isle and said, "Like this?" opening the box. It was an L300 and retailed for $112.00, but indicated it was priced at $72. I said,"I'll take it." It's now installed - keys and all and works great!

Good find! I gave wrong info. The Bargman L-300 was discontinued by the manufacturer in 2010!

On edit: this might fit too, available in Black, White and Chrome http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/r...door-locks.htm

Drudging up an old thread here.

I have been having some minor issues with my Bargman L-300 door lock on my CT-13, you kind of have to jiggle the key to get it to lock sometimes. So after reading this thread, I figured I'd open it up and see what the problem was. I'm not exactly sure what fixed my issue but I tightened up all the screws and hex bolts, replaced the springs and cleaned and lubed everything up inside. Seems to work like new now and the locking problem went away, I also cleaned up some ugly spots where one of the previous owners or maybe the original manufacturer overcut some areas. Everything is tight as can be now and the door fits tighter as well, oh and the door lock assembly no longer wiggles back and forth like it used to LOL. I still need to clean up the inside top of the assembly, maybe use some almond colored acrylic/latex caulk to cover the opening at the top.

I added the trimark doorlock system with a little modification. It sounds great and performs securely. The original locks on older campers are just junk. Mine also has a dead bolt, lock in or out. I found a rebuild kit for the Bargman L400 for 75. assembled for 60. broke in the test. I pulled on it fairly hard to see. Someone, or bears could be in a camper with Bargmans in 3 seconds.
