Hi, we are attacking what looks like the worst leak in our 2005 13'
Scamp, the small oval bathroom window. Removed it, the gasket was all crumpled up and it had been leaking by for who knows how long. The transom opening mechanism is so badly corroded that it's beyond saving. We also have some mold in the little front closet, maybe some damage to the floor. We are wondering what to do about the window: replace the whole unit with a new one? or clean it up and try to find new parts for the mechanism that opens it? or clean it up and install it such that it cannot ever open? We know we need a new gasket and to clear or make drain holes at the bottom. So far it looks like there are no drain holes. We read on here to use 1" butyl tape to seal around the window and no silicone, also. Anyone have advice for us? My hubby is pretty handy but I'm the one who does the research. -Heidi in NH
