Battery Sale

Costco has Interstate RV and Boat batteries on sale. The largest one is $80.
If you go to purchase one, be sure to take your old one along. There is an additional $15 core charge and you get the $15 back when you turn in the old one.

Did you notice if they had golf cart batteries in stock? Last year a did for a while. I guess you went to the F-burg store. I'm currently switching over to GC batteries.

I believe I saw them at the bottom of the rack. No idea if they're included in the current sale or if they're available nationwide. Lots of golf carts in AZ!

Are they usually on sale at all the Costco's in the States and do you know how long for?
Thanks.

Eddie,

Yes they had Golf Cart Batteries and I went to the Charlottesville store.
They had 2 sizes of RV/Boat batteries, I bought the largest size and of course it is to big for my battery box so just got back from Louisa with the larger box.

I picked up a Group 27 for about that at Costco US 3 years ago and very happy with its performance and yes they gave me $15 for my old battery (not a costco battery) as well. I think the refund on the old one is the standard deal with them.

That $15 is a refund of a mandatory core charge added to the price of the battery, so it doesn't reduce the net cost. I believe it's a federal requirement to make sure all batteries get recycled, as with tires. Is it different in Canada?

It may well be Jon but I can't say for sure as every time I have done a battery change (or a tire change for that matter) in the last 10 years its been state side! Usually planned for during a trip to tax free Oregon.

Hopefully it will be awhile before I find out if it or not as my new to me trailer just had 2 new 6v's added the week before I purchased it.

It is done all over the U.S. Price varied a few years ago from state to state. The purpose is to make purchasers recycle used batteries. If you had an extra old battery, most battery sales places will take it for recycling but I doubt they will give you any cash for it.

I picked up two GC batteries today from the west RIC Costco store. They were a little cheaper than Sam's Club and the core charge was also less. Sam's had another GC battery with 15 more AH but It would have been $50 more for two of those GC batteries.
Thanks for the info,
Eddie
