Battery size

I would like to replace my current factory battery with a larger one (e.g. group 27, 29). I have done some searching but having trouble getting a consistent answer on what size would fit. What is the largest (I guess group-wise) can I install in the existing space?
Thanks!

Knowing very little about batteries, I would think you would need to know the size of the area you are placing the battery, or at least the type of trailer you are placing it in or the group you have in the place now, and if it's a snug fit. other wise, trial and error. :huh

Oh, now I see where. Casita 17. (duh)

Paul, our 2002 17 SD was ordered with the Group 27 upgrade. It's a pretty snug fit.

The width and height are close to maximum for the compartment, but a battery which is a bit longer would probably work.

Best recommendation is to call Jay or Chuck at the factory. I'm sure they would be glad to advise you.

Paul:

Only difference in the size of a 24, 27, 29, 31 is the length. They'll all fit. There's a website somewhere (mabe Trojan) with all the dimensions listed.

I have a 29 in my 2000 16' Casita LD. (from Wal-mart).

I'd have bought a 31 but there wasn't one 'readily available'.

battery

Paul, I have a 2002 17'SD and it came with the 24 size battery and
I took it out and put it in my boat, than put a 29 battery in and it has twice the power of the 24. It is a little bigger but it fits with a little mod change, had to noch a little out of the top inside trim so the battery post would go in and had to move the hold down bracket out and re<img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3e8fab94d1d6bDSC00109.JPG/> drill new holes to mount it. It was easy and it is ease to get out to service it.
Here is the Interstate battery site at the left side click on marine / RV
and check out the battery info. http://www.ibsa.com/estore/default.asp
Here is a picture of my battery in the box.
