Best Trailer Jack

Hello Helpful Friends-
Would all of you please give us your opinion on the best type and size of jack to carry in our 17'SD, considering weight, ease of use and cost.
Thanks so much!

I carry this in my Taco because it's extremely easy to use and will also work on the truck. Weighs 27 pounds, but worth it to me. Also a piece of 1/4 inch plywood to put it on in case of soft dirt - had a hydraulic jack fall over once and decided this was better.

Check your TV's jack... if it works why be redundant?

We have BAL Stabilizers with a built-in crossmember.
They are plenty strong to use as jacks for road emergencies.

I agree with Floyd, I installed these on both my Boler and 17' Casita and they easily lift the wheels off the ground. Great for leveling the trailer and changing tires without having to carry an extra jack that you hope will never be needed.

I have BAL jacks on all 4 corners too. The original post was asking about THE best jack, not a jacking system consisting of more than 1 jack.

I still carry a separate jack. As a retired mechanical engineer, I never assume everything will go right in the dark and rain on the side of a busy road.

I think all responses thus far have addressed the OPs request.

My Scamp doesn't have corners!
The BAL system with the built in crossmember is likely the best jack for the purpose and it is always in place and ready to use.
The typical jack supplied with most TVs is universal enough to work well on a fiberglass RV frame. I say check it for suitability, and if the shoe fits...

BTW, I'm the guy that the engineers called for road service or repairs on dark and rainy nights.

That would be a AAA card.

However, like Charlie, I too carry an aluminum racing jack. Three pumps and it goes from 3" to 16". I'm going to throw the piece-of-crap-jack that came with my truck... away!

Software engineers most likely....can't fix a flat with a keyboard, although it would be great if there was "an app for that."

Mostly electrical, chemical and mechanical, they were support troops for those of us who ran and repaired a fuels refinery.

I expect "virtual travel" will soon replace a lot of real travel with "virtual road service" sure to be a feature... Along with virtual insurance... all paid for with bit coins!
