Just an alert (if this has not been pointed out earlier):

There is a new type of rechargeable batteries on the market in AA and probably AAA by now. One is the "Eneloop" from Sanyo. The (big) difference is that they have extremely low self-discharge.

Charge them up, put them in your device, leave them there unused for a few months, and when you need to use them they will have almost all of the charge still left in them.

The high rate of self discharge has been the achilles heel of rechargeables. From my experience with them they have now solved that aggravation.

Oh! I like that. I have found that about the most that I can get from my AA's in the camera is about 10 days. After using them for about 6 months I'm down to about a week between recharges. These new ones sound better. Wonder when we'll start to see them up here and how much more will they be.

Great! I go through batteries like water. So much that I was considering buying stock. It always bothers me to have the throw aways. But when I have to have reliable power I can't go with the rechargable. When I go out on a search I have AA batteries for my headlamp, my FRS radio (plus two other radios), my GPS, my this and that, oye!

Thanks for letting us know!
