thank you for all of the sage advice. I ended up making a rough mold on a free piece of lexan, one layer thick and then taping it in and some wood ribs on the backside to support the thin layer.

Seemed to work okay. After some time grinding from the front and some more layers of mat, should be well matched to the trailer.
