Bigfoot battery location

Visited our friendly Bigfoot dealer in Gettysburg yesterday (175 miles from home) and looked at a 2001 17' center bath. When I asked where the battery would be located, he hemed and hawed :o and guessed it would be put under the fiberglas shield in front of the gas bottles on the A frame. Does this make sense to you all?

Umm, I don't think you want to trust this guy about much, esp when he says your whatever "can easily pull this trailer without any problems" (as you may be able to tell, I heard that line a lot when I was shopping for an RV once; I have a full-size pickup, but it only has a straight six with a weak trans and is limited to 2,000 lbs tow -- all these salesmen would glance at it and proclaim it to be the tow machine of all tow machines).:sunny

I think he's seriously lacking in knowledge of the product (altho I suspect he's right about the battery location), but he's probably pretty good at producing a contract and waving goodbye as you pull away with your purchase:wave

Yes indeed - the battery (deep cycle rv type) is/will be located next to your propane bottle(s) in the front of the trailer.

I have 2 - 30 LB'ers on my Bigfoot. :wave


P.S. Like Pete says - I would question dealing with a saleman who couldn't answer a simple question like this. :o

Just one itty bitty little comment.
this is a sales person, not the mechanic. I for one think he should have said, I don't know for sure, lets go look. but sales has a problem admitting to not knowing anything. (as I was married to one for 8 years, I know what a blowhard they can be.)

I can appreciate that a standard sales-person would not know specifics and some detailed information on the product they sell, but surely any person selling RV's should know where the propane tanks are stored!:sick

If I was the salesman and could not answer a question like that - especially knowing that most trailers have their tanks mounted on the front hitch - I would consider it a lost sale and start preparing my resume. :reye2

I do not know much about monkeys, but I do know that the battery on my 21 foot BIGFOOT is located in front of the propane tanks on the hitch. It keeps the bat. out of the weather.

I have a 13 foot Bigfoot and the battery is directly in front of two propane tanks on the hitch. The battery is protected by a plastic nautical battery case.

I have added an additional battery tray behind and below the propane tanks. It is large enough to install three more batteries although I only added two. They are, of course, hooked in parallel and I have a smart battery charger that can charge three batteries at the same time up to 40 amps. each. I got tired of running out of battery power when dry camping and the two that I use right now lets me stay about 3 days if I am careful with power usage. While in storage I connect my 4 stage charger to keep the batteries happy.
