Boler 1700 range hood

Just doing a more thorough inspection of the 17 ft Boler we bought this weekend. I wonder if the hood over the stove is supposed to be like this, just a metal shell. At the rear of the hood, there are 3 flaps covering a screen to the outside. No electrical, no holes where previous innards might have been removed. Is it just passive flow of air? Thanks.

No. Mine is a regular rv range hood, fan, filter, light. I'd have to look but as I recall the inner compenent frame was spotwelded in not screwed. The welds may have broken and it was pulled out. Fotunately these hoods are one of the cheaper things to replace and you can get one on ebay for as little as $35 including shipping. You can also try the RV salvage links under the Resources on this site for a used one.

My 13 foot has a range hood that I debated removing because it holds only a light fixture. After removing it I repainted it and returned it to it's original position. Cleaning and fixing up the spot where it was, was going to be harder. I guess I took the easy way out.
