I'm trying to find a replacement for the seam moulding in my 1977 boler. I have read about boiling it to return it to its original shape. Does it work? I would like to go new any sugestions?

There's also been discussions about using a paintable caulk and using a wet paper towel to mimic the texture. Members seem to be satisfied with those results.

Otherwise maybe a molding here: Moldings from the Helpful-Links

My Trillium's seam tape was pretty puckered and I put it in boiling water, it worked. I had to let it sit for a minute or two. Just put one end in and feed the whole tape through letting it sit in the water until that section straightened out. Worked really well.

I've also had very good results with putting the seam tape into boiling water to straighten it out

Hi Jonathon,

You probably have your answer but I just re-did my seams and used the paintable caulking. Taped the edges about the same distance apart as the old tape and filled with the caulking and smoothed out to tape edge. Textured it with a cleaning sponge- looks really good and blends in more than old tape. I did have to run an exacto knife along the tape edge before pulling off as the caulking is so rubbery. Waiting for the temp to actually be summer like so I can paint it. Can send pics if interested
