Bothering ed too much

So, i have learned alot about eggs from this site and Ed Harris. I had a question i forgot to ask him when i talked to him last night. I always wondered about the Uhauls. I had one years ago. I just wondered if when they were first built, were they used as rentals like the moving trucks? No particular reason, just wondering?

Yes they were rentals.

Made and rented in the mid-to-late 80s. Cost Uhaul so much money that story is that the CEO has a picture of one in his office to remind him of the loss. Sold them in the early 90s.
Small ones made in Dayton, OH, 2000 of them. Large ones made in AZ, 200 of them.
