Brake Controller

Just bought a new tug, an '04 Ranger 4x4, and it came equipped with a tow pkg...yahoooo......(trans. cooler, Class III hitch, 7-wire harness, and brake controller)
Now, the controller is one I've not heard of before...it is marked "ACTUATOR", no other identifying letters or wording. Very basic;a small lever slides across a horizontal scale, and a red 1"square raised pad sits to the right, likely for manual application of braking. No sign of the usual "time & power" adjustments.
Does anyone use one of these units ? Who is the mfr ? Are they reliable ?
This truck spent the first three years of its life in Maryland, I have found out.
Any info would be appreciated...a photcopy of an owners manual would be super !

Joe, it sounds to me like any one of the less expensive ramp-type brake controllers. Since all the wiring is already in place, it would be a really easy and quick switch to install a Prodigy. It's definitely worth the time and effort.

I'm with Roger on this one. Even if you could find the maker, if it is not adjustable it cannot be a proportional controller, and thus I don't think it is worth using.

If you are going to buy a new controler chack out the "Tekonsha P3". Realy a nice set up. I got one a month ago and it is fantastic and very easy to set.
