I was on the Burro web site today and it appeared that it is back up and running.

It's never gone down....at least the website hasn't. That's the problem, so many people think they're still in business or back in business....and they're NOT. And people wonder why the phone number goes to some other place and no one answers the e-mail.....

What links are you refering to? Have you had any luck locating any aftermarket parts?

By sheer co-inky dink, I did JUST drive over the Escondido factory, with MY Burro in tow.
He bucked and swayed, eyored a bit, stuck up his ears and pushed me faster away from it.
I think he thought I was taking him back!
And no.. it's still a landscape place...

This is intriguing, since they must be paying to have the site hosted or be doing their own hosting or something... Maybe they are keeping the domain name so that they can resurrect the business some day?

I guess I'm really really surprised after all this time, that someone hasn't turned Mr. Johnathan MacArthur in to the California Attorney General for false advertising.... or something.

"False advertising is the use of deliberately false statements or [b]deception in advertising, in order to gain a commercial advantage."
If the owner of the website is making money by advertising something that is NO LONGER available...to me that's false advertising. AND, it's entirely possible he's harvesting e-mail addresses to sell to spammers since the e-mail link appears to work.

Well, on a scale of crimes, that one is close to the bottom, but if someone succeeds in turning him it and getting the site turned off, we will have one less recurring topic here

The domain is registered through Direct NIC. Apparently it was renewed in 2004 and is due to expire January 17, 2008. It appears the Direct NIC is using it to advertise their hosting and domain registering serverices.
If you wish to make a complaint to Direct NIC you can find email addresses here.
