Buying and selling ,payment

What is the best form of payment when buying a trailer privately in Ontario? I thought I read advise on this site as well as a what should be written on the bill of sale but can't seem to locate it.

I only buy with cash. Get the registration signed and Bob's you uncle. At least, that is my approach.

Same with selling only accept cash I assume.

I find cash for smaller amounts but if it's a newer trailer I've also done a bank draft from a Canadian bank or wire transfer. If you are near a bank branch going to the bank with the trailer to complete the transaction would work well. You could also do the e transfer depending on amount, I think I can do up to $3000 per day.

You might check in with your motor vehicle registration dept and ask them what they will want when you buy a trailer, especially if it is coming from another province or the U.S.. Down here they have blank Bill of Sale forms (also on line for many states) as well as any other forms you will need the seller to fill out and sign.

The ONLY non reversible, secure form of payment is cash !!! All other forms can be disputed and or stopped or reversed, I know this from experience

Cash!! As your in Canada and if your buying a trailer in Canada the one important document you will need is the Registration papers/owners transfer papers signed over to you!! and a Bill of sale.

Your insurance company may also want to see the actual bill of sale though in order to prove its value when you insure it.

You and the other party, Cash at the Bank deposited directly to your account, You and the other party at the government office that does vehicle transfers.

Then you are absolutely protected.
