The first thing I did was to try to minimize the movement of the contents to limit the battering ram effect. Lips on shelves, foam draw liners, ect. Then I tried rare earth magnets. First, unless something falls on the floor, it's hard to tell if they are working because if the door opens going around one corner, the magnet pulls the door closed around the next.
That said, the upper doors seem to be working with 1/2" neodymium magnets. On the silverware draw I used 4 magnets imbedded in the draw faceplate with angle iron screwed to the opening. It takes one good yank to open but stuff seems to say put. I used a large 3/4" magnet on the closet door with limited success. The door still opens on a big bump and if I use any larger a magnet I am afraid the screws are going to pull out when I open the door. So we supplement with a shock cord here. It's a work in progress for sure. Raz
