Cabinet edges

I have an 80 acorn/scamp in rough shape that we're fixing up. I have never really seen the inside of a scamp up close and personal so I am wondering if there are things missing on mine. Do the cut outs in the fiberglass for the cabinet doors have any type of trim around them? Those openings seem mighty sharp and I was thinking maybe the previous owner (he was redoing scamp too) took some trim off.

Ellen, yes, the fiberglass openings are rough and I've seen them trimmed up with this stuff: Tapes & Trims : White Mini Trim For Cabinets (Price Per Ft) but depending on how tight the cabinet doors fit flush to the fiberglass, you may want to consider this: Tapes & Trims : White Mini Rigid Trim (Price Per 4ft Piece)

Hope this helps.

Donna,
Thanks! I think those would certainly make the lil' gal look more finished. We're not doing a major overhaul like some folks have done but do want her to be nice as possible.

You can also find similar trims at TAP Plastics. Scamp's prices are pretty high on this sort of thing.

Thank you!! I thought Scamp was high but could not find them other places. If I had a name for the trim I could search for it but Scamp doesn't give it.
I'll look at TAP. Again thanks. I'll be needing all the help I can get! "Nutsoid's" in rough shape but we don't want to do a massive overdo. Get her cleaned up, neat looking so we can use her next year. But boy I sure love some of the classy redos I've seen on this site and Pinterest. Way above my head!

Look for "white plastic 1/4 inch U channel."

I found this on eBay, but shipping on it was almost as much as the trim!

I have a roll of that Trimlock stuff, but I thought that if I put it on the seat openings, it would interfere with the seating of the plywood hatch covers. My openings arae luckily not sharp at all...

You could always just do a neat job with duct tape...

I'm going to go to a local marine supply store. They have trims used on boats that also look like they might work for my situation. That way too I can actually see and feel the stuff to see if it will cause door closing problems.

Sanding smooth, then coating with resin would make the edges real smooth.

Anyone interested - I found an answer to the trim for the cabinets and around other areas. Went to my local menard's store and got the trim used to finish paneling edges. Little glue and it'll work on the long straight edges. Then I found bendable edging in my garage that my husband didn't use for a carport project! Will work fine and luckily it's all in white.
Morale of story - look around a bit for solutions. They might be right under your nose and cost you a lot less money.
