Joseph, Do you use a step to access your trailer. I do with my Scamp 13.

I made a step made out of 1/4 plywood and 1x6 pine, with a lid. The step holds my fake grass mat that is about 6x9, maybe a little larger. I fold it and store it in the step. The step also holds the pegs for the mat and awning, plus a few other odds and ends. The step resides just inside the door for travel.

Joy, do you have a picture of your box/step? It sounds large to fit the mat plus other things, but maybe I'm just picturing it wrong. It sounds like a good idea in any case.

I just fold my astro turf into a 1' x 4' section and wrap it around the propane tank with some bungies. My battery and box are on the outside front.
