Thumbs up

Please, please, please would someone who owns a 16 or 17 foot Casita with a factory installed case awning give me some measurements I'll FINALLY ready to purchase the A&E Horizon Case Awning (Camping World has them on sale through May 21st), but really don't know what length I should get. I'm thinking it's the 11'6"...but maybe it's the 13'2" This certainly isn't something I care to screw up Also, how many brackets are used to mount the awning? 3, 4

I have the F45 awning on my 16' 2003 Casita. It is 10 feet (9 feet 11 inches as best I can measure in the dark) along the outside of the case. It has 3 supports.

On the Fiamma site, I think it's the "300" model.

Thanks very much Steve...didn't mean for you to work in the dark I was figuring if the 17' Casita used the 13'2" model, then the 16' trailer must use the 11'6".....hummm wonder now if the measurements are different between the Fiamma and the A&E Think I'd better just go measure my own trailer

Anyone else have any info?

Fiamma makes the A&E Horizon awning. Here is the leaflet for A&E Horizon. Page two shows the different lengths. They show 9'10" for the 3 meter unit so I was close.

http://www.dometicusa.com/pdf/OS1751HorizonAwningLR.pdf

On my trailer, the awning was set to just cover the door. However, with the door held open it gets wet, and with the legs attached on the trailer wall, the door can/will slam into the support/leg. My preference is to always run the legs to the ground.

It doesn't quite cover the all the rear window. I put one of those plastic window vent covers on so I that I can keep the window open in the rain.

Donna,
Ours is the 17 ft Casita. The awning length is the same as what Steve posted for his. I just measured ours at very close to 10 ft, perhaps an inch shorter. Looks like Casita puts the same awning on both the 16 and 17. Just goes to show that no one should buy a 17 footer thinking they will get more shade. Lol !! Don

My 2003 Scamp 16' has the A&E Catalina 2500 which I just measured at 9'11" also.

Donna D,
Our 17' 2000 Casita FD has a 10' Horizon with 3 brackets. Due to the curvature of our Casita, a longer awning would protude at the ends. To prevent rain from running between the awning case and the Casita body, clear vinyl tubing has been compressed to fill the gap and clear caulking completes the seal.
Enjoy the relief from the

Got the awning ordered from Camping World last night

It can be delivered in as few as 10 days or anywhere from 3-5 WEEKS!

Sure glad I didn't wait until I absolutely wanted it. Hopefully it will get here by Memorial Day and I can spend three days sweating drilling holes in the top of my trailer

THANKS for everyone's help. Hang around, I'm sure I'll have more questions

Yep Christi, got the A&E Horizon Case Awning IN BLUE and it's the crank kind!

Nobody can say they're cheap $654 including shipping, PLUS brackets at $30 + S&H. So, I'm into it almost $700 AND I get to mount it. Measure, 4-5 times, drill once

Donna,

I hope the brackets are the correct ones. I say that because when I was looking into my A&E Horizon awning all I saw were brackets for a straight side mount, not a curve side like we have.

I had my brackets made by a welder, out of aluminum. They were designed by another Scamper out in Ohio, I think. They are basically teepee shaped with little feet. So you just set them on the trailer until one side of the teepee is perpendicular, also level front to back.

I have specs on them if you'd like me to send them to you or did I happen to give them to you last year. I recall we did talk awnings at one point in time.

I thought the scary part would be the first hole. Then it dawned on me it's really the second one that keeps the bracket aligned properly. After that it's the rear bracket holes. The center bracket can be added after the front and back are on. I had an 8ft long piece of square aluminum tubing that I used as a straight edge for the job. You'd need something longer. I think I measured every day for at least a week before drilling the first hole.

Good luck to you

Yep Joy, I got the correct brackets for the Scamp. Leon is sending me three. But, I'm THINKING one of the Van Optional brackets from Fiamma would work Fiamma Optional Brackets Or maybe even ordering some from Casita

I'll get something to use for a straight edge (GREAT IDEA). I'm already getting sweaty palms thinking about drilling those needed holes

Fiamma makes the A&E Horizon awning. The paperwork that comes with the awning gives you Fiamma to contact for parts and/or problems.

Someone once told me that most awnings on the market are made by Fiamma. A&E, Carefree etc. just put their own fabric and fabric patterns on the awnings and label them accordingly.

Guess what was sitting on my front porch when I got home yesterday Camping World was right...it was 3 days, not 3-5 weeks. It was shipped from the warehouse in Milwaukie, OR...about 15 miles from my house. Sure wish I would have known that was going to happen, maybe I could have arranged to pick it up and saved myself $60 for delivery!

Now I'm waiting on the brackets....it won't be installed befoe the Northern Oregon Gathering, but that's okay...it's gonna be
