Stolen two days ago. It's a 2001 16ft. Spirit Deluxe. It had Texas license plate # 29OU5G on it. It was a pretty standard looking Casita. No attention getting features. No awning, no step, AC was inside not on roof. If anyone sees or hears about one for sale and thinks it sounds like mine please Tray at: http://www.casitaclub.com/forums/ind...showtopic=5304

Donna and all... apparently the owner is known on the Casita Club forums as "Tray". Craig was just forwarding the info. Thanks, Craig.

Oh, okay. That doesn't make the situation any better, but more understandable. I didn't really look at the info under Craig avatar.

Thanks for your concern Donna but my Casita is still sitting safely on its pad. The owner of the stolen Casita is a neighbor to Robert and Karen Elling, members on this forum. When I noticed that Robert had not posted it here, I did. The thread on the Casita Club Forum goes on to tell how it was done without cutting the hitch lock. I know that I will be getting a better lock first thing on Monday. Any opinions as to the best one will be appreciated.

Would you mind sharing the "how it was done" thing?

Thanks

I think the only lock was a hitch lock that kept the hitch open. The thief must have dropped it on a very small ball, then towed it to a remote location where they could remove the lock. There was no lock on the wheels or a style that fills the ball area of the hitch. This happened in the Dallas, TX area. Tom Trostel

That's horrible. I read an article some time back of a guy's Boler being stolen.

I keep a really nice and expensive hitch lock in mine. Always. As soon as I park my trailer and have it leveled, it's the first thing I do, whether at home or in a campground.

I suppose I should add a wheel lock of some type, also.

There's nothing I hate worse than a thief.

BUMP BACK TO THE BOARD: Five year old thread!
Does anybody know if this guy ever got his Casita back?
the thread at Casita Club (above link) just peters out ...I'm not a member so couldn't contact "Tray" the victim.

Here's his last post at the Casita thread, which gives the VIN #

First, let me thank everyone for their disgust for the individual who stole my Casita. I hope none of you ever have to experience the pain. I'm including the vin# in this messsage should anyone have the occassion to run across a 2001 16Ft Spirit Deluxe without a title. The vin # is 1C9TB161611213473. I will be back on the Casita trails as soon as my Insurance company settles the claim. I learned a valuable lesson in this. Locking the ball coupling on the trailer tongue is not enough. I will lock everything possible on my next Casita. If you should run across my stolen Casita, please call me at 972-333-1607.

Thanks, Tray

Anybody know the outcome???
