Casita water tank anode

I had to stand on the breaker bar to get it loose. Put Teflon tape on the new one. Any ideas on what it should be torqued to?

I read somewhere 8 or 9 pounds, but what I do is screw the anode in finger tight, fill the tank up with water and then use my torque wrench and just tighten the anode gradually, til it quits leaking. I quit using teflon tape or plumber's goop. Doesn't seem to need it. I take my anode out after every trip and I use a small wire brush - looks like a wire tooth brush - to clean the threads on the anode and the tank opening after every trip, too. Haven't had any problems or leaks yet.

The manual wasn't much help, was it? I looked, too!

Be sure not to use that breaker bar to put it back in! Make sure it's threaded properly finger tight on the socket before you use a tool. The balance is odd because the weight is all on the rod end, so you want to be sure you have it straight to avoid damaging threads.

I used a short wrench, choked up quite a bit and tightened enough just to get it snug.

Check for leaks!

The Teflon tape may make it easier to get it back off in the future. I use the tape and tighten like the 2 guys above. Never to tight, just enough so it will not leak.
