Ceiling

Hello All, New to this forum, but have learned a lot from the information posted. I have a '72 Boler 13', the ceiling has that cork/spongy material on it. There are many stains on what used to be a white ceiling. Is there any way to paint this type of material.
Thanks for any info.

Hi Mark, welcome to FiberglassRV. We're glad you're here! Yes, a number of folks have painted the 'elephant skin' which is what we lovingly call the ensolite. I'll leave the explanation to those that have done it, but wanted to take the time to welcome you

If your Boler has the latex coated foam rubber so common to the genre, it can be painted with latex.
I recommend a product by Zinsser, called Perma-White.
It is mildew proof, has a fifteen year film strength and requires no primer even outside over bare wood. It can be tinted to pastel and dries to a scrubbable finish, All that at under $30 per gallon! Menards carries it (among many others.)

I meant to ask in my original post, have you tried to thoroughly clean it? It's pretty tough stuff and you may be able to get it clean (enough) to be acceptable. Here's a topic for you: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...ean-43009.html

Thanks for the information Floyd. Thanks for the Welcome and link for the Sonic Scrubber. I may try that first, but it's nice to know that a little paint will do the trick.
I saw a post about the tape coming off the seams, but nothing that seem to work for more than a couple of months. Any suggestions??

I saw one once where the owner removed the tape then filled the gaps with paintable caulk. dabbed it with a sponge to texture then painted the interior. It was Bright and beautiful. I don't know any more details.
