I'm looking at different heating / cooling solutions for our Boler and while I would really like to get a Polar Cub 9000, I'm wondering if the weight is too much for the roof? Anyone installed one of these on a Boler or Scamp?

Are you replacing an a/c on your roof? I have no idea if one would hold w/o the supports already being there or what involves putting on a roof a/c.... on the Bolers.

I just had one installed on my 5er.... but it was a replacement...

No, we do not currently have a roof unit. A previous owner put an AC unit in the back, near the floor. Right now, the AC hangs out the back of the boler in the middle and it looks ugly and doesn't work well. We would like to move the AC, and if the roof mount won't work, I guess we will go with a closet install... But I'd rather do the roof if it will hold it! Not sure it will though.... there really is not much support in that area.

Hmm... I noticed that Scamp sells, as an option, a roof mount AC for the 13ft Scamp. I've emailed them to see if any additional support is needed, and any other info they can give me about it. Anyone know what they use for an AC unit? I've also asked them if I can purchase one from them. We'll see what they say!

Well, for any that are wondering, this is the reply I got from Scamp! Guess we'll be doing a closet AC!

"Boler trailers are not supported for roof air. We can sell you a roof air but cannot support your trailer. When we build support into the roof we do so when the trailer roof is in the mold. Once headliner is installed the job becomes quite difficult."

Stacy, I got a 1979 Boler 13 ft a 5 years back and it has an Airconditioner on the roof with no extra supports built in.
The stickers indicate that the trailer had once been in FL but now that it is in Maine I want to get rid of it and just put a fantastic fan in.
No need of air condition in Maine.
The roof does sag a bit but there are no stress cracks anywhere.
