Hi! I bought a Compact Jr. yesterday, but the back door kept opening on the way home. The doorknob & lock just spun when I tried to lock it so we were using the deadbolt above it. The deadbolt locked with less than a full throw and the door opened twice on the highway. Finally bungied it closed. Any advice on why this is happening and how to fix it would be appreciated! Thanks, Celia

It sounds as though your deadbolt isn't going deep enough into the door frame. Take a look at the socket the deadbolt slides into and see if there are any obstructions which could keep it from sliding all the way in. If worst comes to worst, you may end up having to go at it with a drill & file and make the hole deeper.

I had the same problem with the dead bolt not locking. I tried making the striker plate hole larger but that didn't solve the problem. I then filed the dead bolt thinner and now it works great.

I'll measure to see if filing would help. We checked the bolt hole and it appears free of obstructions and deep enough. Thanks, Celia

I filed about 3/16" from the rear flat surface of the dead bolt.

I had that same problem and I replaced the lock on my Campster....

Then I had the opposite problem.

Now I have to replace the lock again.
