Compact Junior furnace removal

Hey all! I took the furnace out of my compact junior yesterday and am going to put the outside vent back on. What is the best way, silicone and then the screws? Do I need to worry about water getting in? The wire is my electric going on while I worked!
Thanks!

Attaching furnace vent externally

I'm no expert except I have a Compact Jr. and you have to worry about water getting in ANYWHERE. So the silicon before the screws sounds great.

Are you putting a board or something in to block the vents themselves?

There are lots of things you could put in a hole that size in a Compact Jr.. Like a small microwave. Or a water heater. My compact Jr. is now hole-less.

NO SILICONE ANYWHERE EVER!!!!!! Use BUTYLE tape. You should also seal off the vents. I used aluminum duct tape on the inside of the vent on our Scamp when I pulled the 3 way refrigerator and put in a compressor fridge, and it worked out very well. Best of luck on your mods.
