condensation on bolts

ok heres one i would not have guessed. i have condensation on my bolts.

actualy the acorn nuts on the roof where the awning is bolted on.

no its not leaking, theres just such large aluminium backets, that they keep the bolts cold allowing condensation to form. the fabric around them is bone dry, but every few hours,,, i get a drip hitting my face. and no i am not parked at quintanamo.
probably won't be an issue when its not cold out.

my thought, ii could flock them, that fuzzy glue on stuff. or foam rubber covers over them. or maybe just a patch of wall covering over them to keep the warm moist air off them.

what do you think?<_<

Hi John, I must say I've had several Scamps and don't remember ever having this problem. The one thing that comes to mind that you could use is the liquid rubber in a can. They use it for putting on tool handles , like screw drivers etc. There are many uses for this stuff I'm sure. I would make some sort of cut out from cardboard or something so as not to get any on the rat fur. Not sure what colors you can get it in, I have a can that is red. But anyway it would coat the nut/washer with rubber, that should help. I'm sure what you suggested would work also. You may even use clear caulk too.

If those acorn nuts are just the ones that cover the ends of pop rivets, I have seen nylon acorn nuts in the special hardware drawers at Loews/Home Depot etc.
"Liquid Rubber" is also sold as "Liquid Electrical Tape" and it comes in a can with an attached brush.

It sounds to me as if you are running heat in the trailer without opening the roof vent. If this is the case... Open the roof vent about an inch or a little less when running any type of heater. Heat rises and carries enough of the moisture produced by everything from cooking to respiration out through the roof. The vent needs to be open just a touch so you don't waste much heat or risk rain infiltration.

could be floyd, we spent the night in it, was pretty cool and ran the heat, the nuts are right over my head.

this is one of the new awnings and the brackets on the roof are aluminium and quite large, i think they keep the heat soaked out of the bolts allowing condensation to form.

my guess is it will only happen under very specific circumstances, that i just happened to find.
i bet a coat of that rubber dip would fix it.

John I have the same issue come up on mine and Floyd's answer is correct. It happens most often if the weather outside is cool & damp. I ended up adding a window maxxair vent so I could keep a windows open if the weather was a problem and I cant keep the roof vent open. It helped.
