Converting 'privacy room' to shower room?...
On a Scamp 5th wheel standard they are available with either a side bath or a 'privacy room' (I think the 16' is the same). The options apparently fit in the exact same space. There is a nice trailer for sale that has the privacy room but I'd rather have a shower. I notice that the Scamp Store sells the floor pan for the side bath (same floor pan for either the 19' or the 16'). So, my question is: How difficult would it be to change the privacy room into a shower room? I'd need to install the floor pan in place of the privacy room floor, route water to the room and install drain to the grey tank. Not worth the effort, or easy-peasy? I'm pretty handy but have never worked on/modified a trailer!
Thanks!

I was told to expect to pay about $100 for shipping a shower pan from Scamp. Don't forget covering the walls in FRP and sealing it to the floor pan. If you have a pre-fire (before 2006) Scamp, Scamp may not guaranty a fit. I was wanting to install a shower pan in a 2004 16DX side bath which has an odd ball shower pan and I could never get someone at Scamp to give me the measurements on the post 2006 pan. Also the bath window will have to be removed and replaced to install the FRP to the factory heigth.
The project can be done, just take your time.

Don't forget about a HW heater... I thought it usually came as part of the shower package, so this trailer may not have one.

It would not be pretty, but a standard grey stick-house shower pan membrane could be used for the floor. It could be folded to fit up the walls several inches and then the FRP walls ran down over it. Google shower pan installation or such to see how it is done in a house. You should be able to seal an appropriate drain to it the pan and go. Keep it simple and dump the shower grey water in a portable blue tote slide under drain in camp.
Maybe instead of a permanent water heater and plumbing go with something portable. A pump up sprayer, solar shower bag, Zodi, etc. to get you going and camping now.

Great info!
The Scamp I'm looking at is a 2003, so the new Scamp pan may not fit. Plus, the $100 for shipping just about doubles the cost! I'll call Scamp and see if I can get any better answer on the size than you did Eddie. If I do, I'll let you know.
You are right Jon, and that would require some additional propane line work. The cost/labor is going up!
Hey Tim, I've used a pump sprayer before, and that's a good idea. They actually do a pretty nice job. Leave it sit in the sun for a few hours while you hike around and get sweaty, then it feels really good to take a minimalist shower. Of course a hot tub would feel even better, but that would require a slightly larger trailer!
Thanks for the info/suggestions!

I think the easiest way to install a shower is to plumb shower to outside the unit buy a smallish tent that is used to put a porta potti into and use it for your shower stall, cheap and never any rot inside the trialer/MH.

Where does the dirty water go? No grey water dumping on the ground is the norm in most developed campgrounds as well as some dispersed camping areas.

In almost all campgrounds, to use an external water panel/shower, you need to capture the water and dispose of it in the gray water dumping sites where dish water from tenters is dumped. We have used an inflatable child's wading pool to capture outside shower water.

Could u not put a large basin under u then pour it into a large 5gallon plastic bucket find a cactus plant that is in need for water and give them some? I bet they would wrap there needles all around u for the love of the water gray or not.
U know we boondock and that is what we do when we get to a drain we dump the water in the drain be it a parking lot or curb as there are a lot worse items go down in those drains other than a bit of grey water.
How do I know this well I used to get hired to clean them.

Campgrounds usually have designated areas for dumping gray water. Watering the local plants, especially succulents, may not be in their best interest.
We aren't as worried about the drains as the environment.

I am the third owner of my standard Scamp fiver. The original owner purchased it with a privacy room. The second owner converted the privacy room to a wet bath. The system works wonderfully, and if I hadn't been told the history, I would think that the bath had been installed at the factory.

I took out the kitchenette in our 13' Boler (1971) and turned the front bunks 90 degrees where the kitchenette was and put a shower & toilet (porta pottie) in the front & we love it...used an accordion folding door so when not in use it stays open & out of the way, our shower pan is a large utility sink which a toddler can bath in, can also be used for washing dishes, hands, etc. and is big enough for me to shower in and I am 5'9". We used a Fastair instant hot water heater (mounted to the tongue & permanently plumbed) and a 16 gallon freshwater tank under the lower bunk next to the shower for boondocking & we have a city water connection too. The shower drain is pvc to the side of the trailer (underneath) where we have a standard water spigot with valve that we connect a standard garden hose to and the other end of the hose we have a Camco garden hose adapter for RV sewer connections. Then we also have a 5 gallon collapsible gray tank with same garden hose connection for when there are no sewer hookups....check out my post to see the build
