Cupboard latches

Have a 72 Boler 1300 that I am trying to keep as close to original as possible. Looking for cabinet latches for the overhead and lower cabinets (preferably stainless) I do not want to drill new holes in the fiberglass so size is important. Has anyone run across a source for such.

The holes on the vintage trailer latches are 1 inch apart.

That part works. What I have to figure out is if my replacement 1/2" maple doors are thick enough.

Went into Lee Valley. They have the hinges but no positive latch that will fit. Thanks anyways.

Wayne, I will measure the thickness of my doors this weekend and let you know. Not sure if they are 1/2 inch or not. I have the latches from Vintage Trailer but haven't put them in yet so I will check and let you know if it looks like they will work on a 1/2 inch thick door. I have them in the trailer which is in a garage I have for storage. They are really nice looking.

I looked at the cupboards in my trailer and the latches from Vintage Trailer Supply. It looks like a tight fit for 1/2 inch if the doors are truly 1/2 inch thick. I know most lumber is actually smaller than stated when you measure it. My cabinet doors are not exactly 1/2 inch thick, more like 7/8 inch thick. I will look around the house for a scrap piece of 1/2 inch lumber so I can rig something to show how it would look. Otherwise, you could try getting one and putting it on to try or you can wait until I put one of mine on when the weather gets warmer. They are really nice looking though. Let me know if you want me to post a picture of the latch.

I did some measuring using scrap lumber around the house. It looks like the maximum thickness without shimming the part the latch catches would be 3/8 inch. I will need to remeasure my doors since they might be thicker than that. I may have to replace them all since I'm not sure a shim would look good.

I'm not totally following you on the term "tight fit" My cabinet doors are 1/2" and yours are 7/8". In other words mine are 3/8" thinner than yours so if the latch fits your doors then it would be too loose for mine. Please advise if I am reading this right. I do appreciate the trouble you have gone to.

Sorry, I meant 3/8 inch not 7/8 inch. I have found that when you buy 1/2 inch thick lumber at the store it is actually smaller than 1/2 inch thick.

our canbinent doors are so think nothing is needed, nothing falls out. someone put new doors on our they are 5/8 to 3/4 thick!
