Dinette table trim

Hi~
The trim around my dinette table has gotten brittle and cracked and was wondering if anyone else has/had the same problem. I didn't see the same trim on the Scamp parts website and was curious if someone has a solution/idea or found a vendor that carries this type of trim.

for just a few dollars you could make a new table top of Oak veneer plywood and trim it with iron on veneer.

You did not describe what the moulding consists of and I am not familiar with the Scamp tables. If the table top is 3/4 inch thick plywood or something near that you could remove the old moulding, sand the edge smooth and install a vinyl T moulding by cutting a slot in the edge of the top with a slot cutter bit driven by a router. That's how I made a new table top for my Escape. You can buy the T moulding on the internet, there's several colors. They also use this product on the edges of stand up video games. You have to trim the T leg off for a distance of about an inch and a half on the corners and short radii. It's a barbed leg so it's just a friction fit with no adhesive needed. The whole job would not take an hour from start to finish if you can find someone with a router and a slot cutting bit.

Thank you both very much for your replies. That is really a lovely table Floyd! I didn't give very much info, but the t moulding that you mentioned Dave sounds like what I need. The table does have a notch so will see what I can find on the internet-I wasn't sure of the correct name of the trim.

If your table top is slightly less than 3/4 inch thick, after you thump the moulding into the slot and it's tight to your liking, you might notice that the top edge of the moulding is a little above the table edge "proud". You can trim it to fit with a good utility knife laid carefully at a filet type angle. The color goes all the way through so don't worry about a contrasting edge. Lots of 3/4 plywood is 23/32nds of an inch and the laminate thickness does not always make up the difference. And the slot may not be cut exactly dead center. Good luck.
