Display Center - Gray tank not reading

Another problem that seems to be the opposite of anything I can find online. I'm sure most of us have experienced the black water tank reading full or partially full, even when it's empty, for obvious reasons.

But my issue is that ever since I got the trailer back on the road this spring, my grey water tank will only read Empty. The display works fine, the battery, fresh water and black water are reading accurately, but the grey will not register anything but empty, even with standing water in the shower.

Anyone experienced this? I actually do have pretty easy access to most of the sensor wires on the grey tank, but I'm not sure what I should be looking for or checking.

There's only so much that can go wrong with a tank level gauge.

No power.
Bad sender unit in the tank.
Bad gauge.
Stuck paddle arm, or flooded float on the arm.
Broken wire or open electrical circuit.

Time to get your tester out and see what's happening.

The black tank could possibly have paper stuck to the sensors. Gray....corrosion maybe ???? Being the monitor is reading other levels OK, I'd rule that out. Sensors are replaceable also.

Agree. Test for power if possible, at the wiring connection to the tank sensor. If sensor leads are corroded, maybe immersing them in a mild acid like white vinegar.

Thanks.

Am I right in assuming I should only unscrew the sensors with an empty tank?

Found the problem. Thanks for the help. This is also a spot I need to seal off. An opening between the outside access and an inside cupboard. Seeing as I just finished dealing with a mouse issue, I need to find and seal this kind of stuff.

I didn't really find any noticeable voltage at the sensors, even when I got the wire reconnected and the display was obviously working...

Thanks Bob. Yeah I need to look into how to seal out mice without making it really hard to service things.
