Hi gang! Some time back someone mentioned a used RV scrap yard somewhere in the Seattle area on here. Does anyone remember where that yard is?

I'm looking to add at least one outside hatch to give access to the space beneath a rear dinette in a Trillium 4500. I need the door and lock.

Could we set up a Frappr for this? I know of several in the Southern Michigan and Northern Indiana area. Would be great to have the information all in one place that provides Name, address, phone, website so that we can scavenge even as we travel

I used to have a rather large file of RV salvage yards, but they go out of business almost as soon as they open...for instance, I think Singleton's in Rochester is out of business...I'd certainly call before driving to find out

My experience with used plastic parts has not been so good. Plastic gets brittle after years of exposure to UV light. New baggage doors with lock and key are not all that expensive if you find a supplier close to home. Candan RV in Langley, BC has many different sizes available in Polar White or Colonial White.

If you want to get real fancy, lurk around the boat yards around Lake Union in Seattle. Just about every used gear shop has a dozen or so yacht hatches of various sizes and qualities. Some are light weight lexan with structural plastic frames and there are the heavy tempered glass ones with bronze frames.

Prices are all over the place depending on whim and polish as far as I could tell. I think much of that stuff is on consignment.

I saw a beautful bronze framed one that would have made a exquisite 'sun top' on the Scamp, but alas and alak, it weighed about as much as a Scamp.

I would think Vancouver, BC would also have a marine shop area, though I haven't lurked around there enough to know. Since my wife is Vietnamese, when we go there we spend most of the time in the Asian district. The big draw is durian.
