How many have awning arms that need to be moved before an outside hatch door can be swung open. I am planning on mounting an awning next weekend and the arm will cover the outside access door of a compartment under the rear dinnette. Will this become a pain in the...neck?

I would suppose it would depend upon what's inside the hatch that you may need to get to...and no, I don't have any hatches in that area, but then again, my awning is currently setup strictly for the carport design...although I plan to change that to be able to attach to the trailer.

How's that for wishy-washy

Gee Paul, I think you have a rather unique problem. Those of us with straight sided trailers that can accomodate awning arms that do not fold up with the fabric for storage are in the minority. My Hatch is a good 10" away from the awning arm. Most Scamps & Casitas I have seen are case or bag awnings where this doesn't present a problem.

On my Bigfoot both the front and rear hatches are trapped by the awning swing arms. Since the fwd compartment is accessable from inside its no problem, but the aft one can be a pain. I have thought about using an S hook to give me the clearance to open it while camped, but I have not moved to the engineering phase yet.Its 23 on my to do list and I am only on 14.
