doing repairs on the roof...

This may be a silly question, but we are about to take on some work that requires being on the roof of the Scamp. Kirk weighs around 140lbs, will it be safe to put that much weight on top in order to get the fan installed, etc...

Hi:April... I installed the MaxxFan in the roof of our former Boler. Nice thing with that fan is you only install the mounting ring before hoisting the fan into it. No need to be on the roof!!! One person on each side/and or one in one out. 140lbs + the weight of the fan is TOO much!!!

We already bought a fan, Shurflo gold and will have to cut the hole for it.




We also wanted to put a new exit hatch in the place of the old one that is cracking and mildew stained. Are we supposed to do the work from the inside? It seems to me that some of the work will have to take place above, and I am not sure how we are supposed to go about this. The old exit hatch is held in with rivits, and I am not sure how to remove them either. I know this has been discussed before, but I can not find the thread.

Hi: again... A lot of leaning off the ladder worked for me. The pop rivets must be drilled out from the cap side. They aren't too hard so go slo & don't drill all the way through. Pull back the liner material so you have enough to finish up to the fan shroud and cut the fiberglass with a jig saw or Dremel saw.
