doing the math... squeezing inches

so we're strongly considering a newish 13' Scamp but we want to make sure it fits in the garage. can anyone tell me what the actual trailer height is (total height minus ground clearance)? we're considering rolling it on 10" rims like many others in this forum have done but it would help if we had some numbers...

Unless you get something specific a quick search turned up this post where it was said that Scamp advertises 7'4'' on stock tires presumably.

Scamp Height

If someone could tell you or you know what the stock tire you could certainly swag the height drop. Say it was 13" a 10" would be about 1.5" plus some amount for the tire section heights which you could also swag (cross section times aspect ratio divided by 100 divided by 25.4).(P185/75R14 would have a section height of 185mm times 75 divided by 100 divided by 25.4 to get inches) Compare that to whatever 10" tire you're looking at.

Newish.... hummm subjective term. When it comes to a trailer with torsion suspension, I'd say it depends on the age and prior use of the trailer. They do have a tendency to squat over time and with many miles.

If the trailer must fit in the garage, your best bet is to ask the seller to measure it for you. We can give you all the numbers in the world... and it still might not work out for you.

My 13 Scamp was about 86" and I had 94 clearance on my garage door. As Donna says, I've seen a variety of different measurements from folks up here, so do make sure you measure the actual trailer for the clearance. Remember, you can let some air out of the tires to gain more clearance when putting it away in the garage.

Hi: My Daddy always told me... "Measure twice...cut once". Remember that the new Scamps from the new Post Fire Factory are about 3" taller totally as the new 13' molds were taken from the 16' trailer!!! I would like to put our '77 Boler in the garage to work on the "Door Sag" but I don't want to risk the new MAXXFan

My mid 80's 13' Scamp is 83" to the top . BUT I changed the top vent so i could fit it into my garage.
