Today was the big appliance check-up and the Dometic RM2191 in my Uhaul VT16 seems to not want to start nor run. I tried to follow the instructions in the manual, to no avail. No lighting, no action on 12V. How do I determine if it is hibernating or dead?

Thanks,
AmiP

Hi: Ami... Make sure it's on "The Level". Last time our former Boler fridge didn't want to work...it was hooked to the car over night and was not perfectly level!!!

Our trailer had been sitting a long time before we bought it, and the frig was not noticeably working the first time we tried it at home. After a nice, bumpy ride to our first camp-out, it began working just fine.

Alf,
I understand that the propane will not light unless the fridge is leveled but does the leveling apply to electric operation? Is it not supposed to work on 110V independent of propane or leveling?

I found no fuses on the 12V circuit and the 110V circuit breakers are on and seem fine.

this week my scamp fridge would not work either. I went behind jiggled a few wires..leveled the heck out of the thing, confirmed the spot where the fridge plugs in is working and viola it works...go figure good luck

The propane will light, no matter how un-level the 'fridge is.

The 'fridge doesn't get cold right away when you turn it on. It also needs to be close to level to work. See the following links:

and

http://www.geocities.com/bolerama/dometic1.html

and of course, see the document center on the left side of your screen.

Thank you so much for those links...I read the top one and now I get why the fridge needs to be leveled...If that isn't in the document center it should be it was so informative!!!

Hi Ami Just been trouble shooting my Dometic 3way fridge, found that 12 Volt supply was disconnected. It draws 10 Amps now it is re connected. If you can measure the Amps being used it will tell you if the heating element is working.

Hi: Ami... Level applies to all power sources for the Absorption Fridges. Sometimes they just need to be "BURPED" as in the bumpy ride... and sometimes they need a 24hr. cool down period before adding food, and when its very hot and humid with little or no wind the heat build up is more than the system can cope with. As my fridge Tech says "when its hot out, you can ask too much from one of these little units".
