Door latch hook...

Many trailers have a latch of some type on the outside of the door to fasten the door open to he side of trailer so the wind does not blow it closed or back and forth. My boler does not. Does anyone have one of these? What style of door keeper latch is it? How is it fastened to the fiberglass? Where exactly on the door and trailer is it fastened? I want one.

They're called a Door Holdback and may be available at a local RV parts place. I'd use tape and place the hook portion on the body and the latch portion on the door. It would be easier if the two pieces are already latched together. Be careful of the belly band, you don't want the door to hit it. There's also a different kind where the hook portion is "bent" slightly. You may need further info from Boler owners that use this hardware.

Ahhh...Door Holdback...one of those technical terms. Yes I have found a number of types at my online RV supply. Was unsure of which style to choose. My door hits my belly band now and then so I am hoping this helps. The link you gave is down atm but I will keep trying.

All right got that page. Thats just the style I am familiar with. So people are using 3M tape to fasten them? Scamp says use rivets...hmm not sure how well that would work for a hollow double skin door.

No Rene, I meant use tape of some sort to position the door holdback... then butyl and rivet. Using tape allows you to find the sweet spot for both the door and body. "measure twice, rivet once."

I had the white nylon hold back on my 13' Bigfoot door. The wind blew it one way and then back the other way very fast, and broke the arm off, also pulling, the door apart, (the aluminum edge pulled out of the wood door core edge ) all is repaired. I thought if I replaced it I would buy the metal units that look like the nylon, but they are constructed with all metal parts.

Later Kenny

Actually I was thinking of 3M VHB tape LOL! I have some for my upcoming solar panel install. Kenny I am glad you were able to get your door repaired. Donna reccomended a wire holdback from scamp. They are very durable by design.
