Well, we just took the "new" boler on it's first trip, and now we have a problem. The door hinges are breaking out of the fiberglass body... does anyone have suggestions on repairs?

We are considering changing out the hinges for new ones (the door was already saging a bit). Has anyone changed the door hinges, and if so to what? We are also thinking it might help to add flat bar on the interior side for support to the hinges

That's what I ended up doing in my Scamp to strengthen things. Flat strap glassed in. Peeled the elephant hide back like I was skinning an animal, then reglued w/contact cement. Larry

I added a flat aluminum bar around the whole door frame. It really fixed up the stress crack and sagging door. All I did with the hinges was to order new ball kits from Scamp.
This is what it looked like before installing. One day I hope to post the entire fix in a thread of its own.

I forgot-- I did a very similar door frame also, except I formed square tubing, with a flat header for above the door. After repairing the stress crack... Larry (oh, the tabs are to rivet the fiberglass back with the original holes)
