The Trailer Life article only says they tested it on "numerous cylinders" and that it is "designed for steel & aluminum LP gas cylinders with a diameter of 7.9 to 13.8 inches". Someone here, preferably a technical or engineer person, should buy one and evaluate it for us. We don't use enough propane ourselves, it would take a year or more for us to check it out. It's made in Germany, and reportedly popular with RVers in Europe.

Bummer, got two of them full. I'll burn mine off on the BBQ.

Hmmm, let's see.... a BBQ......a device with an open flame in close proximity to a tank that could fail at a seam. Yeah, sure....that sounds like a really good idea....
....might be BBQ'ing more than was planned.

The gas level checkers look interesting. I looked on ebay and had 1 truma $84 plus $14 shipping... ouch! Its interesting because its portable...and you can still swap out your tanks at an exchange place for a full tank...dont have to worry about finding a place that refills them. I had that happen in april...forgot to check and one tank was real low and didn't want to run out and the only place in the area was for an exchange.

Deryk, sounds like you would be the perfect volunteer Truma tester. Worst case result is you'll have an expensive flashlight!

Thanks Brian, you are exactly right. On closer inspection it says "07 A11", so it must mean July of 2011.

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.

Some more info from the RV News Service: RV News Service » Some RVers “between rock and hard place” over LP cylinder recall
Not sure what " 4. Follow the instructions of Lite Cylinder to safely return the cylinders to their Tennesee plant." could mean.
Just trying to be helpful here...
