Trailer: Triple E 13 ft
Posts: 2
Bare with me as I just became a member today and not even sure the trailer I'm buying is Fibreglass. But from what I've been reading thus far, everyone seems to know their trailer knowledge.
I'm looking for the Dry weight of an old Triple E 13ft Compact trailer. I don't have the year or Serial # so I'm looking for an estimated weight.

I drive a 2004 Honda CRV which has Max tow of 1500lbs.
Before I buy this trailer, I need to know the dry weight to ensure my wheels can haul it safely.

Help PLEASE?
Thanks in advance

Dry weight isn't as useful as actual "wet" weight (loaded for vacation). There have been all sorts of threads about trailer weights. 1500 pounds is probably going to about the median weight for the various 13s.

I'm a man, but I can change, if I have to, I guess.

Dry weights really only exist because the manf can weigh the trailer they built, not the trailer as one would actually use it. Technical term for it is Unloaded Vehicle Weight (UVW).

Absent a scale 'wet' weight, a useful weight is the GVWR on the frame label, which is the maximum the trailer can weigh, all loaded up. In one sense, it is the opposite of the dry weight.

Dallas: I'm not sure what Triple E you are asking about (I've never heard of a 13ft Compact), but if this is a Triple E TM-14, the GVWR should be posted on a piece of paper glued inside the closet . If I remember correctly the GVWR is 1,600lbs. I expect that we exceed it by 100-200lbs but I can't be sure as I've never weighed the trailer loaded or unloaded.
What i can tell you is that I used to tow it with a Subaru Outback 2.5L. I believe that it was a bit to much for the Outback, but I now use a 3.3L 2004 Toyota Sienna and all is well. I would be happy to answer other questions if you have them. There are a number of others towing TM-14's who are on the list and the archive may have more information on this subject.
