Dual Propane Mount Installation Problems

Hi All,
Have any of you ordered the dual gas tank hardware from Scamp? I tried to install mine and I cannot thread the long hold down rod into the nuts - either on the plate or the top brackt. Upon closer inspection, the threaded rod doesn't look like any kind of thread I've ever seen. It doesn't have a pitch -- in other words, when i put my fingernail in the thread groove, my finger doesn't advance; it just stays in the same axial position. I don't even know how you would manufacture a rod like this!! Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks!
-Mary

At first I thought your problem would be that the end(s) of the threaded rod are damaged and do not start into the nut. That is easily fixed by grinding or filing the first thread or two, to remove the damaged part. I have never seen a bolt or a threaded rod like you describe. I wonder how they would be able to make one. If Scamp people have one like that, they might have more. They might send you a replacement, but if you have to pay for shipping, you are better off going to a hardware store and get a replacement. That kind of hardware is not expensive. Good luck.

You can probably go to any "big box" or hardware store and buy yourself a 3' section of 3/8" all-thread rod. I too have never heard of one made as you described. Interesting. I'd just go get a good threaded rod and use the old one for a garden stake.
