Your marker lights shouldn't ever flash, if that's what you mean by "turn lights". If they do, they're either wired wrong (not to headlight circuit) or if they're only "flashing" weakly, you could have another problem in the system....my limited experience is that poor ground connection is often the culprit with such anomalies.

I simple fix to the problem is to use Bolts with LED lights in them to attach the licence plate to its holder. Just run the wires to them from the main taillight wiring behind the licence plate holder. You can find them at most motorcycle or ATV shops.

FYI per licence plate illumination:

Here in Washington at least, the law requires that the rear plate be illuminated with a white lamp-(link )

This may also be true in other jurisdictions...I s'pose tickets for such things are rare, but my motto is, why give an LEO an excuse to stop one?

Okay, Alf, can you explain this further? What exactly did you drill off? My trailer lights look pretty much like Chita's shown here and I can't figure out how to replace them with LED lights- at least, not the ones I bought which are apparently the wrong kind.

Why isn't there simply an LED bulb I can put in the existing socket???

There are- the trick is getting one that will fit under your existing lens. (Link)

Below is a direct replacement for a standard "1156" (and others) incandescent taillight bulb. There are other sizes available.

Thanks... I'll check the sizes. My bulbs sit sideways so space shouldn't be a huge issue depending on the size.
