dump valve - leak at knife valve

Hi, I have a new problem to solve before my BIG fall trip 1,000 miles from New England to Ill. It seems that the knife valve on the black tank is leaking. When I remove the cap, the space between cap and knife valve has filled up with "water". Very embarrassing!
Any suggestions? Is there a gasket in this valve, or am I looking at replacement?
Thanks!!

You can replace the entire valve blade assembly if you want. Four screws hold the two parts together. You can also just replace the gasket. Frankly, I think the whole assembly is cheap enough, that making sure you don't pinch the gasket when installing alone may be a PITA: Amazon.com: Camco 39513 RV 3" Waste Valve: Automotive. These are available at most RV parts places.

I have found that keeping the knife blade and gaskets clean that they keep working for a lot longer than they probably should. Everything has a live span (me too). I use vasoline on the sliders and gaskets and all is good. They get sticky with junk and need regular maintenance. Been at it for 25 years nowand all is good.

Replaced it, used it, working nice and easy now, with no leaks! Thanks again!
