Ensolite and T-Molding available June 11, 2012

Tom from TrilliumRV has recently updated his website indicating that he will have replacements for the original Ensolite and T-moldings available to ship as of June 11, 2012.

He has included a picture of the old and new Ensolite along with the new T-molding so you can see what you are getting. He does not indicate what width the Ensolite replacement comes in.

This should make a lot of Trillium and boler owners happy for years to come!
Not to mention early Acorn, Scamp, Eco, Love Bug, Perris Pacer, Casita owners and the boler prodigy. I should mention Trillium offshoots as well, including Surfside and ???

Is the T-molding to use with the ensolite, or is it the molding that is used around a table edge?

Some of the trailers with ensolite use the vinyl t-molding which fits into a clip type thing glued to the body.

Some people without the clips have used latex caulking to hold the molding in place. Most without the t-molding just use an adhesive foam tape like in their originals. Some just fill the seams with latex caulking and paint.

That may seem high to you, but if your trailer has a bad section of elephant hide, a $150 fix seems cheep to me. I wonder if it is as shape-able as the original stuff.

I have seen the rat fur. This stuff is what I want on my walls.

In my case have been considering removal of couch and building in bench seats with a small dinette table but I wanted to have a swing down dinette table like the main one. So I still have a bench seat/bed if desired.

That probably means replacing some hide when I tab in the wood to attach the table support hinges. Have been waiting for this to become available.

How much to do a whole trailer?? at 15 bucks a foot I might as well buy a vintage airstream

To ball park it. It works out to $3.16 a square foot. If you totally covered all 4 walls and ceiling of a 13' trailer you would need about 250 square feet. Take off your windows, cabinets, benches etc. You might be looking at 200 square feet.

My rough estimate would be $600 -$650 to do a whole trailer. How does that compare to prepping and painting the outside? I've got an idea what it costs to restore the gelcoat and it is may more times than that.

I'd have to check receipts, but I think I probably spent $100 on flooring. The price of doing a whole trailer in ensolite all of sudden does not look all that bad.

Oops forgot to add the T moulding if thats the way you want to do it. But you could go with just the seam tape like some of the original bolers.

Has anybody priced out the cost of doing a whole trailer in reflectix and rat fur?

I came across this headliner for marine and RV applications. Cheaper than ensolite and a variety of colors. Polyester laminated to 1/4 inch foam backing.

I just ordered some vinyl strips for my trailer from Tom and it installed beautifully. He also has the new female tracks if those are needed as well. I used some of that around the windows where I had replaced the wood. I ended up with 30 ft of extra material from my order that cost $108 so I guess I used 50 ft since it is sold as 80ft for the trailer. I guess I should have measured...oh well it looks great. If anyone wants my old stuff its all yours, I'm going to keep the left over new stuff for reserve. I live in vancouver. I also completely restored my 1976 Trillium from inside to out and used the sticker collection he has and it turned out great. I found him super easy to deal with. Hope this helps.

Hi I'm stripping my ensolite and wonder if the stuff from JT's Top Shop will be suitable for replacing the ensolite. Will it be good insulation?

Nope I believe it's only a covering, you would need to insulate then cover with hull liner. Check out Roberts thread 1974 boler resto. He uses hull liner in that one.

Thanks Paul7. After doing extensive research on ensolite and seeing that there is nothing wrong with mine (I was just wanting to see if there was any mold behind it) I've decided to keep it in tact (except for the two pieces I took out which I'll try to piece in again). That stuff is very expensive and it was extremely difficult to get out.

I had to do a repair on the back corner of my trillium. The ensolite had come away (leak) and shrunk. I used this matting I got from CTC. It is a rubbery/plastic material for flooring. Comes in pk 4,each sq is 24' X24X3/8 , Textured on one side and smooth on back. It's easy to cut. I painted over it with flat latex white, I attached it to walls with Lepages contact cement and so far so good.
A fellow near me did his whole inside of a trailer with it and just mixed the 4 colours, no paint. Beauty is in the eyes of the owner. ??
I'll see if I have a before and after of repair & post it.

I just want to replace about six or seven feet of my t-moulding inside my 1978 Trillium since what is left is in fairly good shape. Will I be able to do this myself? Is this the right stuff to buy? Would it make more sense just to shoot some kind of caulking in there and then paint over it? Thank you!

Jane, is your T-moulding missing, or just ripply? If it is ripply, just pull it off and boil it. No, I'm not kidding. This will soften it up and allow you to smooth it out. Then it just snaps back in place, once it cools off.

David, the t-moulding is completely missing. The moulding that still remains is in fine condition. Upon looking again today, I probably need 20 feet. One whole side is basically missing the moulding completely! I've heard about the boiling technique....how funny! Since so much of it is in good condition, I'd like to add new moulding to the spaces that need it. But the "elephant skin" has pulled apart in the places where the moulding is missing, so wonder if I should just forget it and caulk it with something. Thank you!
