Entry Door Holder

I don't know how many other trailer makes share this part; but, my Compact Jr. has a combination door stop and door holder. There is a metal rod about 3" long mounted on the body. It has a small knob on the end. On the door is a metal cup with a hard rubber insert that grips the knob to hold the door open. Over time the rubber insert has lost is ability to grip and so the system doesn't work. I finally located a replacement part at a local RV store. It is made by RV Designer Collections, part # E251, "Entry Door Holder". I only needed the rubber insert but had to buy the whole thing to get it. Cost $9. Now the door stays open. Tom Trostel

My Compact Junior's door holder still functioned while I owned it; mine was installed reversed from yours. I had seen these on several vintage aluminum trailers with flat sides.

All 3 of the Bigfoot trailers that we have owned have had that door holder, mounted in reverse...I have seen them at Camping World.

This type of holder (if not the exact model) is very commonly used on commercial vehicles and special purposes vehicles such as ambulances. Anyone who does not need to match exact mounting holes may want to consider industrial supply sources for a variety of choices.

The existing holder on my Boler is the T-style (e.g. item 46919 in Coast catalog). The type Tom found (e.g. item 46826) would be an advantage over the T-type because it engages automatically (mine has to be folded out and hooked in); however, to hold the curved door far enough away from the belly seam to avoid damage the arm of the holder needs to be long, and since it doesn't fold I wouldn't want one that long sticking out of my trailer. I think they're a better fit for flat door/wall configurations (e.g. a Fiber Stream?).
