Exterior Mold Abatement

Hi gang,

Would like to hear the latest advise and products for removal of mold on the exterior of our Burro and follow up protective coatings. Kinda surprised at the build up of mold in this environment. What to do and what not to do - that is the question.

Thanks for your advice - Jim

When our trailer sits through the Chicago weather changes, we also get some mold on our outer shell. I clean it off with a cup of bleach in a bucket of water. I wipe it on with a car-washing brush (with an extension), let it sit for a couple minutes, then go over it again with the wet brush to take off the loosened mold. Once the whole trailer is done, I spray it all off with a garden hose. Seems to work well for me! I also am now using RedMaxx sealant, so I'll see if this inhibits the mold growth. I know it grew right on the PolyGlow in the past.

I do the same thing as Kevin A does however I use a tree sprayer loaded with the clorox mix then I spray it off with a hose then wash it with a turtle wax an water solution and it looks as though I've spent hours waxing it.

Vinegar also kills mold, and will serve as a cleaner (works on windows, why not FG?). We have some mold that tries to grow in the base of the bathroom sink, and soaking it with vinegar overnight inhibits the mold's return better than soaking with bleach. I read that this is so because the vinegar will penetrate (better than bleach) whatever the sink's made out of to kill tiny mold spores.

I get mold on the North side of my parked trailer also. I just use a long handled car washing brush and Simple Green. Apply, soak, scrub a little, rinse.
