Exterior Shower

I have a new to me scamp trailer, very excited. It is a 2002 16ft model. I want to add an exterior shower because the toilet/shower area is a little small for showering.

Has anyone added an aux. shower to there unit? Are there places you can and cannot cut into the scamp to mount the aux shower (requires about a 8" x 12" hole). I was thinking of putting it so it pokes into the cabinet that the water tank is housed in. There seems to be plenty of room for the intrusion, just not sure if I can make a hole there.

What do you think?

Matthew, I would see no problem putting it almost anywhere, though I am not familiar with the Scamp. The back of any cabinet you can easily access for hooking up, or maintenance should work. A hole that small should not compromise the integrity of the shell at all.

Essentially what you're doing is cutting a hole like you'd do if you were putting in a hatch. You may want to check out peterh's excellent topic on the hatch he put in his Scamp, it should give you some pointers:

Carl, those would be nice, but if you already have a hot water heater, the bulk of carrying it would be nice. I bet it is great for tenters though.

I'm in the process of a complete overhaul to my 13' Scamp. Many upgrades, not the least of which is an outdoor shower.

When at most RV parks, it occurred to me that the curbside/entry-side is most "private" side, so I located my shower there, just below my "porch" light. This location is on outside of the vertical cabinet inside, so the plumbing is hidden within the cabinet. I'm customizing the interior of the vertical cabinet so that I can have access to all the plumbing, while adding more efficient storage.

Obviously, the shower required cutting a hole into the shell. No big deal, IF you take MUCH care with your measuring and your cutting. I had no serious problems and the results are great.

I have the above. Takes about 3 hours for 2.5 gallons and enough for two navy showers. Of course, one has to anticipate it's use since it takes time to heat but it is WAAAY CHEAP!

For privacy I have the Outback Porta-Privy, a great shower tent that takes about 30 seconds to set up and just a few seconds longer to put away. Folds up to a 24" circle that is about 2" thick for super easy storage. I figure a much better option then trying to squeeze into my Scamp shower.
